Nils Frederiksen: a late passion for the pipe craft
Nils Frederiksen, a name that is becoming increasingly well-known in the Danish pipe-making world, came to the craft relatively late. After many years as a vocational school teacher for woodworking, he found the time after his retirement to devote himself more intensively to pipe making. In the last five to six years, he expanded his production and was represented at international pipe fairs, while a Danish specialist retailer added his work to its range.
From teacher to master pipe maker
Frederiksen began his journey into the world of pipes in the early 1990s. Back then, he learnt the basics of pipe making under Flemming Petersen, a student of Sixten Ivarsson and mentor to Tom Eltang. Petersen gave him the technical knowledge and artistic eye that Frederiksen later developed and perfected.
Nils Frederiksen's characteristic style and favourite materials
Frederiksen is known for his preference for both classic, straight shapes and flowing, curved designs. He uses high-quality briar wood and often combines it with applications made of bamboo, a material that has a long tradition in Danish pipe making. Cigarworld is also the only retailer in the world to offer Frederiksen's Freehand pipes with a 9mm bore - a rare combination for pipe smokers, especially those from German-speaking countries.
Conclusion: Frederiksen pipes - tradition and innovation combined
In his pipes, Nils Frederiksen combines the heritage of Danish pipe-making with his own creative signature. His works combine material expertise, elegance and functionality - and invite pipe lovers to experience Danish design at the highest level.
