Nils Frederiksen Freehand

Nils Frederiksen is one of the newer names in the Danish pipe-making world.

Even though he is no longer the youngest. For many years, Nils was a teacher of professional woodworking at a vocational school.

It was only after his retirement that he found the time to devote himself more intensively to pipe making. In the last 5-6 years on a somewhat larger scale.

You could meet him at pipe fairs and his pipes were added to the range by a well-known Danish specialist retailer.

But basically Nils Frederiksen has been making pipes since the early 1990s. He learnt the craft from Flemming Petersen, who had studied under Sixten Ivarsson and was a major influence on Tom Eltang.

He loves curved shapes, but the classic straight Danish pipe also finds its place in his work.

In the best Danish tradition, he also likes to use bamboo as shank material.
