Franz Pipes Freehand

Franz Pipes is the brand of Roberto Franzini, a pipe maker born in 1982, who learnt his craft mainly as a self-taught pipe maker.

He started making pipes in 2012 after hearing that his dentist was a passionate pipe smoker and farmer. It was none other than Angelo Fassi, with whom he is still very good friends today and often appears as a ‘double pack’.

Even though Roberto Franzini is Italian, his work is heavily influenced by the old Danish and Japanese masters. This is easily recognisable from his pipes.

He has a great penchant for classic Danish billiard and brandy variants, and is particularly fond of the Bulldog and Rhodesian. These models are particularly common in his range.

He currently produces around 100 Franz Pipes a year, as he only works part-time as a pipe maker.

Nevertheless - or perhaps because of this - pipes from Roberto Franzini offer an excellent price-performance ratio, which even comes close to the price level of high-quality series pipes. We therefore recommend buying - as long as it stays that way.

The craftsmanship of Franz Pipes is also of a very high standard and does not have to hide behind other well-known pipe makers.

However, one thing is completely omitted: A 9mm filter drilling. That's why all Franz Pipes come without a filter!
