Tom Richard Pipes

Tom Richard Mehret lives in the very north of Germany and his profession is architect. He came to pipemaking as many others by pipesmoking. Since 2003 he is a pipemaker with own, very professional workshop.

His first teacher was Karl-Heinz Syring, old school pipemaker from Flensburg. But he learnt the most from Rainer Barbi, which had the biggest influence on him. Later he gained a lot of knowedge with collaboration and communication to Reiner Thilo and Cornelius Mänz.

Tom Richard Pipes are characterized by a very harmonic, smooth shaping which is influenced by very close situated Denmark. Now and then he also makes fragile, little pieces, but mainly he builds larger pipes, that feeling good in big hands.

As well best briar from Italy as thousand years old Morta-wood is used to carve pipes. Mouthpieces are made from vulcanite and cumberland and are hand cut from the rod. He makes pipes with and without filter.
