Important note: Based on our own experience and that of our customers, we recommend smoking Brigham pipes without filters. With the maple wood filters, there are always fitting problems which lead to the filter getting permanently stuck in the mouthpiece.

The Canadian company Brigham invented its own filter system, the "Rock Maple Insert", a very practical filter made of particularly hard but absorbent maple wood, which appeared on the market as early as 1938 and quickly made the company famous.

Even today, all Brigham pipes have a filter made of maple wood. It is so popular that the vast majority of pipes sold in Canada are Brigham pipes. Brigham is also very popular in the USA.

The great advantage of the maple filter is that it can be reused, can absorb a lot of condensation and moisture, and yet does not significantly deteriorate the tensile properties. In addition, it is made from regionally grown and non-fossil raw materials.
