Lasse Skovgaard pipes
Some of you will have heard the name Lasse Skovgaard before. No wonder, because Lasse Skovgaard is the son of the Danish pipe maker legend Benni Jørgensen and has worked with another master, Teddy Knudsen, for a long time.
Lasse Skovgaard has already gained a lot of experience at the age of 37. Among other things, he also built pipes for W.Ø. Larsen. His freehands enjoy the best reputation, are superbly made, but also have a corresponding price level.
It's good that Lasse decided in 2020 to build a second line, "By Skovgaard", which is still handmade, but uses pre-made mouthpieces and pipe bowls that were made with machine support. This is how you get a real handmade pipe made in Denmark for just over € 100.
You can see the high level of craftsmanship in the pipes. Everything fits as it should, and the bit is nice and flat. A feature that other Danish pipe makers who use pre made blanks for mouthpieces like to lack.
In any case, we suspect that the "By Skovgaard" series has already become a real bestseller. So take it!
