Prammer Pipes NOS

Josef Prammer is one of the best-known and most distinguished pipe makers in Austria.

He was born in 1953 and has been making pipes since 1993. His pipes are mainly sold through specialised Austrian retailers.

Josef Prammer has become internationally renowned for using the highest quality bog oak (morta) for his pipes. Unlike other manufacturers, he has special requirements regarding the density, weight and mineral content of the wood and analyses the wood using scientific methods.

He rejects morta that is too light or brownish, as although it is particularly absorbent, it does not have the same durability as bog oak, which has a natural black colour.

His Morreich pipes are therefore not cheap bargains, but individually designed smoking instruments with at least the durability of a briar pipe.

Prammer pipes are characterised by their extremely harmonious design and excellent smokability.

He also integrates acrylic mouthpieces and 9mm drillings into his work as a matter of course.

We were offered the collection of an Austrian pipe smoker whose Prammer pipes were all unsmoked. Our range comes from this collection. They were probably manufactured and acquired in the early 2000s.
