These are cigars from a true world champion. Behind Principle Cigars is American Darren Cioffi, who claimed the title in slow cigar smoking at the Cigar Smoking World Championship in Split, Croatia. For a long time, he was unrivaled in this discipline and even held the world record on several occasions.

Yet Darren wasn't exactly born with a cigar in his hand. The antiques dealer from near New York found his way into the world of cigars – and eventually to Principle Cigars – through an unexpected route: his passion for collecting. He's particularly fascinated by antique cigar bands and is said to own the largest collection in the world. Now that's a hobby we can get behind! Nothing against fishing or model railways, but collecting cigar bands really is something out of the ordinary!
The antiques dealer has certainly retained his eye for the extraordinary. His boutique cigars are produced in small quantities at Tabacalera KBF, which is owned by the son of former Davidoff producer Henke Kelner – a clear indication of first-class quality. Darren sums up his brand perfectly: “No pretense, no shortcuts, no nonsense. After a long and exceptional road, Principle Cigars is here.”
The Principle Cigars Range
We now offer four different series. Aviator features a so-called Cotui wrapper, while Accomplice, which joined our range a year later, celebrated its German premiere in our lounge in 2017. Darren himself stopped by for the occasion – after all, he was the one who had set the whole thing in motion. He had given our boss a sample cigar, and she was so impressed that she immediately added this fantastic smoke to our range.
Special Series from Principle: Bad Principles and Limited Edition
The Bad Principles series is the most affordable range from Principle Cigars. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing supply shortages, Darren revisited these cigars from 2013, which have since developed a loyal following. Finally, under Limited Edition, you'll find the brand's highly sought-after special releases.
