Segovias De Esteli and Antigua Esteli: One Brand, Many Names
Art Garcia is the man behind the brand. He founded the label in 2016 and introduced it at the IPCPR in Las Vegas. Three years later, Segovias De Esteli cigars celebrated their German premiere at InterTabac. In the meantime, Segovias De Esteli became involved in a naming dispute. For a time, the cigars were therefore sold here under the name Antigua Esteli, but they are now once again available in Germany under the name Segovias De Esteli.
The Cigars From Segovias De Esteli
The name Segovias De Esteli refers to the tobacco-growing region of Nueva Segovia in northern Nicaragua. The claim “El Diamante de las Segovias” also alludes to this origin and underlines the brand’s commitment to quality. Behind the label is Tabacalera Antigua Esteli founded by Art Garcia, whose style stands for characterful, full-bodied cigars from Nicaragua. In Germany, Segovias De Esteli were presented in 2019 at InterTabac and imported by Woermann Cigars.
Cigar Tradition From Nueva Segovia: Segovias De Esteli Oscuro
Two series with two formats each were released at market launch: Oscuro as Robusto and Torpedo with an Ecuadorian Oscuro wrapper, and Maduro as Toro and Robusto with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. With its dark wrapper, double binder from Nicaragua and Mexico, and Nicaraguan filler, the Oscuro series is the bolder of the two lines. It is complemented by the Maduro series, which uses a Mexican Maduro wrapper from San Andrés with the same basic construction, resulting in an especially aromatic and full-bodied profile.
Segovias De Esteli Cigars: Rediscovering the Old Nicaragua
Antigua does not refer to the Caribbean island of the same name. In Spanish, the word means “old” in the sense of “antique”. In other words, Old Estelí – named after the cigar capital of Nicaragua. The city lies in the province of Nueva Segovia, one of the country’s most important tobacco growing regions. This completes the circle of the many names associated with Antigua Esteli or Segovias De Esteli – and at the same time the story of a brand that today once again clearly represents its origin in Nueva Segovia.
Full-Bodied Cigars for Aficionados: Segovias De Esteli Maduro
Since the international return starting in 2023 and the renewed presence in Germany in spring 2026, the brand has once again been clearly recognizable here as Segovias De Esteli. With the Oscuro and Maduro lines, the brand primarily addresses aficionados who are looking for strong cigars from Nicaragua with a darker profile. Both series offer full-bodied blends, distinctive spice, and precisely the aromatic depth that makes this style so appealing to many connoisseurs.
