Segovias De Esteli Oscuro

Segovias De Esteli was founded in 2016 by Art Garcia. The CEO and President of Tabacalera Antigua Esteli first presented the Segovias De Esteli described here at IPCPR 2016 in Las Vegas. The name is composed of the designation “ancient” or “very old” Esteli and Segovia. Here we can only speculate and assume that Art Garcia is not referring to the city in Spain, but rather to the administrative region of Nueva Segovia, located in the north of Nicaragua on the border with Honduras and home to large parts of Nicaragua’s tobacco-growing areas. The “claim” placed under the name in the logo reads “El Diamante de las Segovias” – by which he is certainly referring to his cigars.

Segovias De Esteli: Tobacco Tradition from Nueva Segovia

In Germany, the Segovias De Esteli cigars were first introduced at Intertabac 2019; they finally reached us in September 2019 and were distributed by the (then still operating) importer Woermann Cigars. In the meantime, Woermann, like Wolfertz GmbH, has been acquired by VCF (Vandermarliere Cigar Family) and now operates in Germany under this umbrella. Initially, “only” two formats from two series were introduced, followed later by additional ones. Woermann’s timing was rather unfortunate, as Art Garcia ran into trouble with the Garcia family in 2020, who believed that their (much earlier introduced) La Antiguedad cigars sounded “phonetically” too similar. These disputes have since been settled.

Background and Origin of the Segovias de Estelí Cigars

Since 2023 (internationally) and then again properly in Germany in spring 2026, these cigars invite aficionados on a flavorful journey of discovery. These premium cigars from Segovias De Esteli are distinguished by their dark, bold wrapper and combine Nicaraguan tobacco tradition with artisanal precision. They are ideal for experienced enthusiasts seeking a full-bodied, complex smoke, while still offering a smooth balance that particularly highlights the aroma of Segovias De Esteli.

Product Variety and Special Features of the Oscuro Series

For the wrapper, Art Garcia chose a dark Oscuro H. from Ecuador. Beneath it lies a double binder from Nicaragua and Mexico, along with filler tobaccos from Nicaragua. The Segovias de Esteli Oscuro series is further complemented by the Segovias de Esteli Maduro line, which presents itself as slightly more aromatic and full-bodied. The Maduros are identical in terms of binder and filler; only the wrapper differs, being a Mexican Maduro from San Andres.
