Manil Tabac Semois
The whole of Europe is dominated by the "big players" in the tobacco world. The whole of Europe? No, in a small town in the Belgian Ardennes there is a resistant tobacco producer who selects, matures, refines, cuts and markets his own tobaccos from local farmers. His name is Vincent Manil!
And what he grows there has a long, even centuries-long tradition in France and Belgium. A tobacco called "Semois", which originally comes from a Burley seed. This earthy, spicy tobacco grows in fields in the valleys of the Ardennes and is optimally adapted to the fresh, foggy climate.
Vincent Manil's three blends differ essentially in the cutting widths. The "Reserve du Patron" is a relatively fine medium cut, the "La Brumeuse" is clearly coarser and wider cut, and "La Volute" is rather a very coarse "crumble cake" with a slow burn.
They are completely unflavoured, totally pure tobaccos, as they were preferred in French-speaking areas for a long time. Very authentic, very spicy and strong, and clearly drier than one is used to from modern tobaccos.
We are pleased that Tabac Benden is now the sole German importer of these specialities.
