Vasco da Gama

The cigar series Vasco da Gama was named after the Portuguese explorer who, in 1498, became the first European to reach India by sea. The manufacturer Arnold André wants to convey the idea that these cigars do not settle for what is already known, but rather offer a taste of new horizons. Just as Vasco discovered new routes and spices, the connoisseur is always seeking new flavor experiences, tobacco blends, and discoveries.

A Vasco da Gama cigar is a cigar for the great moments in life. It is like a small adventure, a journey of discovery. And last but not least, it is a homage to one of the greatest navigators in history.

Brazil
In Brazil, tobacco is cultivated by thousands of independent growers. Unlike Indonesian practices, in Brazil, the entire plant is harvested. This allows the leaves to continue receiving nutrients even after harvest, resulting in a sustainably spicy and mellow flavor for the dark brown Brazilian tobacco, which is considered one of the most versatile raw tobaccos in the world.

Cuba
A tropical hot atmosphere with frequent trade winds and sandy soil provides the perfect climate for tobacco cultivation, giving this tobacco its incomparable taste. The light-toned tobacco from Cuba, recognizable by its slight green sheen, unfolds a perfectly harmonious aroma. Cuban wrappers are unmistakable – they are characterized by their silky smooth texture.

Sumatra and Java
Sumatra tobacco: 27º Celsius, abundant rainfall, and sandy-clay soil – the interplay of climate and weather in Sumatra creates the ideal conditions for growing cigar tobacco. Here, each leaf is hand-picked, one by one, following the plant's ripening process, starting with the valuable sand leaves that are used as wrappers. The light brown sand leaf is considered one of the most expensive and precious wrappers in the world due to its excellent quality.

Vasco da Gama Whisky
The only cigar in the world privileged to breathe 12-year-old Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky during its aging process.

Port Wine Cigar
In Portugal, the homeland of explorer Vasco da Gama, the foundation was laid for an exceptional cigar after a long journey: the Vasco da Gama Port Wine Cigar, the first cigar aged in a Port wine atmosphere.

For the unique refinement of Vasco da Gama Premium Cigars, the makers chose the internationally acclaimed Port wine Porto Rozès. But first, they had to create the perfect tobacco blend using 100% tobacco. Select tobaccos from Cuba and the Dominican Republic in the filler, a Java binder, and the hand-picked reddish-shimmering Mata Fina region Brazil wrapper form the exquisite tobacco blend. This wrapper was specifically chosen for its ability to retain moisture, an essential quality for the subsequent aging process.

Through an elaborate and finely tuned process, the robust flavors of the tobaccos were combined with the velvety depth of Port wine. In the so-called "aging rooms," the finished rolled cigars were stored alongside open barrels of Rozès Port wine. The binder and wrapper absorbed this rich atmosphere undisturbed. The result is a spicy cigar with a delicate aroma that caresses the nose when the tube is opened.
