La Bavaria Die Bayerische Zigarre
This cigar originally stemmed from the “crazy” idea of a man from Lower Bavaria who, as a cigar aficionado and self-confessed Bavarian, wanted to produce a “local” cigar. Marcel Polzmacher founded the company PTG as early as 2005 and finally introduced the La Bavaria cigar in 2014. Since January 2019, the company has operated under the name La Bavaria GmbH. Marcel Polzmacher initially secured the support of Ulrich Michel to drive forward expansion.
La Bavaria Cigars: A Bavarian Vision Goes International
The cigars are rolled in a small tabacalera in Costa Rica. A total of three different types of tobacco are used. The filler blend consists of Peruvian, Nicaraguan, and Dominican tobaccos. The wrapper comes from Ecuador. According to the manufacturer, cultivation takes place without fertilizers or other chemical aids. After harvesting, the tobaccos are aged for at least one year before processing. The finished cigars are then stored for a further minimum of three years to develop their optimal flavor.
Discover the Uniqueness of the La Bavaria Cigar
La Bavaria cigars are handmade longfillers with a medium-bodied profile and characteristic earthy notes. Due to the small production volume, the wrapper color can vary noticeably, but this does not affect the taste. In addition to individual cigars, a very attractive and distinctive “preserving jar” containing ten cigars is also available, delivered with a humidity-regulating Boveda pack. In January 2019, the brand was also visually relaunched and modernized. The cigar bands became slightly darker and were additionally adorned with a distinctive lion. Alongside the cigars in preserving jars, elegant 10-count wooden boxes are now also available. In 2021, we were informed that the brand would be completely discontinued.
