The La Flor de Montenegro is aimed at aficionados seeking a characterful cigar with a well-balanced aroma profile. Thanks to its mixed filler and medium filler construction, it offers an affordable everyday indulgence for mindful smoking moments. A medium filler cigar contains a blend of long and short tobacco leaves in the filler. In this case, cuttings from the lit ends of premium cigars made at the same factory are reused to form the filler of these budget-friendly cigars. The wrapper and binder are made from Ecuadorian tobacco, while the filler is a blend of tobaccos from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.

Costarican Origin With a Distinct Signature

The cigars are produced in Costa Rica, at the same factory in Santiago de Puriscal (Costa Rica) where the well-known Vegas de Santiago cigars by Marc Niehaus are also made. The importer for these cigars is Werner Casagranda from Stuttgart, who has long collaborated with Marc and the Tabacalera Tabacos de Costa Rica. The Guzman family, owners of the factory, is currently represented by Andres Leon Guzman, who manages the family-run business—founded in 1997—as the fourth generation of tobacco growers, successfully distributing worldwide. The Guzmans also operate their own tobacco plantation and manufacture numerous boutique brands for various international cigar producers (e.g. Malekö, Atabey, Casdagli, MBombay, among others). By the way, Werner couldn’t tell us where the name comes from either – maybe the Guzmans once vacationed there...!? ;-)
