Casdagli Cigars: Prominent Partners in the Dominican Republic
Some may recall that Casdagli Cigars were originally called Bespoke. This name, meaning "custom-made," reflected the brand’s high standards for cigar production. However, the name had to change due to trademark regulations, and the owner’s family name now graces the brand.
Casdagli’s Legacy
Jeremy Nicholas Casdagli is the man behind the brand. His roots lie in a Greek merchant family whose story began in the Ottoman Empire during the 19th century.
Later, the Casdaglis gained prominence in cotton trading from Alexandria to England, with Manchester serving as the hub of the European textile industry. They also traded in other luxury goods, including Arabian horses, which contributed to the family’s wealth.
Casdagli Cigars: Tailored Masterpieces
After a brief stint with Cuban cigars, the focus shifted to the Dominican Republic. Here, they partnered with a big name: Hendrik Kelner Jr., whose father, Hendrik Kelner Sr., earned a legendary reputation as a master blender at Davidoff. In 2013, the first Casdagli series, Traditional, was produced at Kelner Jr.’s factory, Tabacalera KBF. The brand chose the Colossus of Rhodes as its emblem, symbolizing the confidence of a merchant dynasty thriving across generations.
Subsequent series include Club Mareva and Basilica, the latter targeting the oriental market with its citrus notes. The Cabinet Selection, available in a 50-count cabinet box, continued the Dominican legacy before Jeremy turned his attention to Costa Rica.
From Alexandria to Costa Rica: Casdagli Cigars
In Costa Rica, the Daughters of the Wind series marked the first collaboration with Tabacalera IGM and Olman Guzman. Initially produced for the U.S. market, these cigars have now reached international audiences. The latest partnership between Jeremy and Guzman hails from Puriscal, near the capital San José.
The Villa Casdagli is named after the family’s former residence in Cairo’s Garden City, a prestigious district located between Tahrir Square and the Nile island of Roda.
We’re eager to see what Jeremy will surprise us with next. Casdagli’s exquisite boutique cigars continue to impress with their exceptional blending and unparalleled quality.
