Christo Cigars
The cigars of the Christo brand are produced in Bad Lobenstein, a small town in the Thuringian Slate Mountains. What makes this small manufactory special is that it is a recognized workshop under the German Act on Severely Disabled Persons. The operator is the Diakonie, or rather the Diakoniestiftung, which also explains the name of the cigar. At first, we even suspected a “cheap,” at least partial, case of name borrowing from the Cuban Montecristo, but when the package arrived, the connection between Christo and Christus became obvious.
Christo Cigars: Traditional Craftsmanship From Bad Lobenstein
The cigars are made by four employees and dedicated volunteers. Of course, Christo cigars can also be purchased in the workshop shops in Altengesees and Bad Lobenstein, as well as directly at the cigar manufactory – but it’s certainly more convenient to shop right here with us!
On the grounds of a former cigar factory dating back to 1886 in Bad Lobenstein, the tradition of cigar making was reintroduced by Norbert and Christoph Hetterle. A vacation in the Canary Islands first drew the two to the subject. The former Managing Director of the Diakoniestiftung and his son then visited a small cigar manufactory nearby. The impressions they gained there strengthened their desire to integrate a small cigar manufactory into their non-profit workshop. External experts provided selfless support during the opening and shared their extensive experience. With their help, not only were time-tested tools recreated based on historical models, but the blends were also developed. Since 2005, Christo cigars have found their enthusiasts throughout Germany.
Unique Christo Cigars – Handmade in a Special Manufactory
In this section, we have grouped together the slightly larger cigars, which we also offer individually. In addition, there is another category in which we offer the Christo 1886 cigarillos.
