Alec Bradley Gatekeeper
The name of this cigar brand, as most people likely know by now, is not the name of the owner or founder, but is composed of the first names of the company owner Alan Rubin’s two sons. The two boys are named Alec and Bradley and were born in the mid to late 1990s. Due to smoking age restrictions in many U.S. states, Alan had to wait until they turned 21 before he could employ them in the company. Today, they are present at every IPCPR (now called PCA) trade show in the U.S. as well as at numerous events worldwide. In addition, they take care of marketing “at home” and—now we get to the point—also work on several blends.
Alec Bradley Cigars: Family Tradition With Creativity and Quality
The two juniors first created their “own” blend in 2018, which has since been produced as a regular line at Tabacalera Raices Cubanas in Honduras. These Blind Faith cigars received a successor in the summer of 2019, or rather a second edition of this collaboration between the two “brothers in blending.” These Alec Bradley Gatekeeper cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic by none other than Ernesto “Ernie” Perez-Carillo at his Tabacalera La Alianza. This also makes them the first cigars from Alec Bradley manufactured in the Dominican Republic. As a small side note, it is worth mentioning that Agio Cigars also had the Balmoral Dueto, launched in autumn 2019, produced by Ernesto. Interestingly, in the same summer of 2019, two brands had a so-called “collaboration” produced at EPC.
Cigars From Alec Bradley: Innovative Blending Meets Masterful Craftsmanship
The Gatekeeper cigars are rolled with a Sungrown (or H.) wrapper from Ecuador. Beneath it lies a binder from Nicaragua as well as a filler blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos.
