Cigars from Haiti have become the latest craze since we recently added the first African Puro (Bongani) to our selection. Despite local challenges, such as failed economic policies and civil war-like conditions, Supreme Tobacco demonstrates with its Bohekio cigar series that high-quality tobacco can be cultivated in Haiti even under difficult conditions.
Supreme Tobacco: Bohekio Cigars from Haiti
The Supreme Tobacco S.A. was founded in 2015 by three friends and has specialized in the cultivation and production of cigars in the fertile Mirebalais in Haiti. The original dream of establishing their own cigar brand quickly evolved into a deep passion with the goal of positioning Haiti as a leading tobacco producer on the world map. In just five years, Supreme Tobacco has established ideal growing conditions, trained local farmers, and built a sustainable cigar production. The focus is on promoting a local tobacco industry that creates lasting jobs and strengthens the economy.
Today, Supreme Tobacco is the only manufacturer of premium cigars in Haiti and contributes to positioning the country on historic tobacco land between Cuba and the Dominican Republic as a significant tobacco producer.
In memory of the Cacique of Xaragua, a significant Taíno ruler, the first cigar series was named “Bohekio,” symbolically reflecting the cultural and historical significance of Haiti.
