Caoba Diamante

The name Caoba is the Spanish word for mahogany. Incidentally, this is the official national tree of the Dominican Republic, which is why the founder of this cigar brand, Don Julio Perez González, used it as inspiration for the name. The tabacalera is located in the old town of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, and was founded in 1992. Initially, the cigars were mainly sold locally to tourists and residents.

Caoba Diamante Cigars: Dominican Craftsmanship Meets Mexican Flavors

At the end of the 2010s, this changed with the visit of American Adam Zuber, who fell in love with these cigars and ensured that the tabacalera made its first appearance at the IPCPR in the USA in 2019. In spring 2021, these cigars finally reached the German cigar market. Our retail colleague Sebastian Gollas from Berlin has been importing this brand since the beginning of the year and now also distributes the strongest representatives of this label with the Caoba Diamante cigars.

The Discovery of Caoba Cigars: From Santo Domingo to Germany

The wrapper is a Mexican San Andrés, rolled over a Dominican binder and a filler blend that is also entirely Dominican. In terms of flavor, there are dark notes and plenty of creamy smoke. Throughout the entire smoking experience, they reveal dark chocolate, coffee, and nut, which represent the dominant, characteristic flavors. Here you can find the other, first introduced line of Caoba Origen Dominicano cigars.
