Epic Corojo Reserva

The cigar brand Epic Cigars was founded in the year 2010 by the American Dean Parsons. He is an experienced cigar smoker and wanted to simply turn his hobby into his profession. During a vacation in the Dominican Republic, he pondered for a long time over a possible brand name and eventually settled on Epic because a friend of his owns the sports brand Epic Kitesurfing, and the name also fits with what he wants to express. The brand slogan is the following: "You deserve a cigar worthy of your achievements!" Who wouldn't want to hear that about themselves or be able to claim it...!? :-)

In English, the term stands for things like "epic," "grand," "significant," and "stunning." In 2012, there was a trademark dispute in the USA between him and Altadis because Altadis introduced a Dominican Montecristo under the name Montecristo Epic No. 2. The compromise now stipulates that Altadis can still distribute these two editions, but without Dean's approval, they cannot introduce any more cigars with this designation into circulation.

After 4 years of preparation, Dean finally introduced his cigars at the IPCPR in Las Vegas in 2014. A year later, in the summer of 2015 at IPCPR in New Orleans, the Maduro Reserva was added. There, Martina Kleinlagel, co-owner of the cigar importer Kleinlagel from Bruchsal, discovered this brand and decided to import two of the three available series. The third one has the word "Habano" in its name and therefore, for trademark reasons, cannot be sold in the EU. As Epic Gold, it was renamed and introduced to the German market in November 2015.

The cigars are manufactured in the Tabacalera of Charles Fairmorn in the Dominican part of the island of Hispaniola. Many Kristoff and Belmore cigars are also produced there. For the wrapper, Dean chose an Ecuadorian Corojo, and for the binder, he used a Dominican Olor leaf. In the filler, he blended exclusively Dominican tobaccos: a Piloto, a Viso, and a Ligero.

In September 2015, we received the first boxes. We wish the importer Kleinlagel and the manufacturer Dean Parsons much success with them in Germany!
