Griffin's Classic

The mythical creature, the griffin, inspired these premium cigars and also appears on their elegant white cigar band. Manufactured and distributed by Oettiger/Davidoff, these cigars were initially produced by Henrik Kelner, the master blender behind Davidoff. Although Henrik left the company in 2020, Davidoff's renowned quality standards naturally remain unchanged. The griffin is the heraldic symbol of the Griffin's Club in Geneva, founded by Bernard Grobet. The cigar enthusiast and club owner had these cigars produced exclusively for his club beginning in 1984. They became so popular that they were eventually sold internationally beyond Geneva and Switzerland.

The Story of Griffin's Cigars: From a Geneva Club to International Success

Griffin's Classic is one of the best-known brands from the Dominican Republic. Exceptionally mild in flavor and highly recommended as an introductory cigar, it is made from three different tobaccos and finished with a classic Connecticut wrapper. The Classic line offers mild cigars with refined, well-balanced aromas. A distinctly herbal profile combined with subtly creamy-sweet notes defines every vitola in this series. Expertly crafted with excellent draw characteristics—just like all products from Davidoff!

The Griffin's Fuerte, which was also produced in the past, was discontinued entirely around 2010. The Maduro variant has been completely discontinued in Germany, while it remains available in the United States. In autumn 2015, the new Griffin's Nicaragua was launched, providing further evidence of Nicaragua's remarkable rise as a cigar-producing country. Unfortunately, this line has since been discontinued as well. These cigars are well suited to enthusiasts of other mild cigars, such as Vegafina or our own brand La Chaveta from Nicaragua.
