Hemmys Maduro

After Berlin cigar retailer Hemmy Garcia first introduced the classic version of his private label Hemmy's Cigars, he followed it up in August 2019 with this darker blend featuring a Maduro wrapper. Both lines, along with the relatively new Hemmy's Bundles Cigars, are rolled at the renowned ABAM Cigars factory by Matias Maragoto in the Dominican Republic. The factory also produces Villiger 1888 Cigars and Flor de Ynclan Cigars for the importer Villiger & Söhne.

Hemmy's Maduro: the Dark Temptation From ABAM Cigars

Matias, like so many cigar makers throughout the Caribbean, originally comes from Cuba and has known Manuel Garcia, Hemmy's father, for many years. In the early 2000s, Manuel was one of the senior executives at Habanos S.A. in Cuba, responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cuban Cigars. With that long-standing friendship in mind, Matias put exceptional care into creating this second blend, crafting it to the highest standards.

The Evolution of Hemmy's Cigars: From Classic to Maduro

Hemmy's Maduro cigars are also entirely handmade and stand out with their rich, tobacco-forward character. Throughout the smoke, notes of earthy sweetness, wood, and toast gradually unfold. The key difference compared to the classic Hemmy's line lies in the longer tobacco aging process and the dark, distinctive 2008 Mexican wrapper. The tobacco has been aged for an additional two years, resulting in an even smoother and better-balanced blend. It also offers a glimpse of how beautifully the classic Hemmy's cigars are expected to evolve over time. Adding to this is the exceptional 2008 Maduro wrapper from the renowned San Andrés Valley in Mexico, which is further aged for two years in old rum barrels at ABAM Cigars. This does not impart a rum flavor but rather contributes subtle, delicate nuances that gently enhance the smoking experience. The HEMMY'S MADURO blend at a glance:

  • Filler: Dominican Republic / Nicaragua
  • Binder: Peru
  • Wrapper: Mexico (San Andrés Valley, 2008) – Aged for 2 Years in Rum Barrels

These cigars combine the finest tobaccos from four countries: the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Peru, and Mexico. For the classic Hemmy's line, the decision was made to create a more straightforward, fresher blend designed to reveal its full potential through additional aging, much like premium cigars. With the Maduro, both the wrapper and the blend itself have already benefited from extra aging, making the cigar rounder while still offering excellent aging potential. All HEMMY'S MADURO cigars are presented in elegant burgundy lacquered wooden boxes containing 10 cigars each. The result is an honest, expertly crafted cigar with an exceptionally smooth draw, a well-balanced blend, outstanding construction, and remarkable value for money!
