Barrio Viejo Cigars

The wonderfully successful bundle cigar Barrio Viejo (the old quarter) is a private label of the formerly independent cigar importer Thorsten Wolfertz. In 2023, this cigar brand created by him, together with the entire Wolfertz inventory, was transferred to the new owner VCF. VCF stands for Vandermarliere Cigar Family, which, under the leadership of the very dynamic owner Fred Vandermarliere, has not only acquired Wolfertz GmbH but also Wörmann Cigars and, previously in 2016, the premium cigar manufacturer Oliva Cigars, integrating them into its portfolio.

Barrio Viejo Bundle Cigars: Longfiller Quality at an Attractive Price

Am I digressing again and talking only about industry insider details that no one really cares about? I’m afraid you’ll just have to bear with me! In 2024, the accessories manufacturer Les Fines Lames was added to the group – let’s see what Fred has planned next! Now, back to the cigars. Back then, Thorsten drew inspiration for the name from Düsseldorf’s old town, a local touch that we particularly appreciate. Barrio Viejo stands for affordable yet outstanding bundle cigars, hand-rolled as longfillers. And we truly mean outstanding, because in terms of quality, Barrio Viejo cigars impress across the board.

Honduran Filler and Nicaraguan Wrapper: The Tobacco Blend of Barrio Viejo

The binder and filler come from Honduras, where the cigar is also rolled. The temptingly dark and oily wrapper originates from Nicaragua. The profile can be described as medium-bodied, with clearly noticeable spice and roasted aromas. They are available in six different formats – all at an unbeatable price. Did we already mention the attractive price?
