Barrio Viejo: Bestseller
Barrio Viejo: All items
The Barrio Viejo has been making waves – and rightly so. Behind it stands Thorsten Wolfertz, a name well known in industry circles. As a cigar importer, the man from Solingen in the Bergisches Land has made a strong name for himself.
Barrio Viejo Cigars: When an Importer Switches Sides
Brands like Alec Bradley, Nicarao, A.J. Fernandez, Oliva, Condega, and Plasencia were all “discovered” by him for the German market. With Barrio Viejo, Thorsten has shifted from merchant to producer. He used his excellent network to create the Barrio Viejo line in Honduras.
We couldn’t get him to reveal exactly where these fine cigars are rolled. All we know is that they come from a small factory in Danlí. What really matters, though, is what’s inside: Honduran tobaccos for the filler and binder, with a Nicaraguan wrapper.
The Perfect Bundle Cigar? Barrio Viejo Cigars!
The result is a great smoke – well-balanced and medium-bodied. What we could hardly believe, though, was the price. These bundle cigars offer unbeatable value for money.
It’s something you hear often, but this time it’s actually true. High-quality longfillers in the Robusto format for under five euros – that speaks for itself.
From Wolfertz to VCF
As of January 1, 2023, Thorsten stepped away from importing and sold his company to VCF (Vandermarliere Cigar Family). Barrio Viejo was part of the deal, so its future is secure. And Thorsten’s still around: he now works as Sales Director for VCF.
