G.H. Corojo No. 5
In the United States, these cigars are known under the name Gran H.....o. However, this name is not permitted in Germany for trademark reasons, so the European importer opted for a completely new name for the European market. Incidentally, the founder’s name is also part of the name of the factory where the cigars are produced, GR Tabacalera Unidas S.A.
Tradition and Expertise: The Tabacalera GR Tabacalera Unidas
These cigars are the strongest in the entire portfolio of the Guillermo Rico factory. Both the wrapper and the binder are Nicaraguan Corojo. The filler blend is a full-bodied mix from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Until 2009, George Rico managed the company’s operations in Honduras together with his father Guillermo; since then, he has been pursuing his own cigar projects. His father already represents the third generation of the Rico family in the tobacco business. Thanks to strong ratings in the cigar magazine Cigar Aficionado, these cigars have gained a certain reputation. We often passed by their booth at various cigar trade shows in the United States, but due to the trademark issue, we repeatedly set aside the idea of importing them.
Bold Flavors: Nicaraguan Corojo and a Powerful Filler Blend
In the late 2010s, the Spanish importer of these cigars made part of his warehouse stock available to us – and we simply couldn’t say no! Once again, our goal is to offer our customers the most comprehensive portfolio of cigars in Europe. For a time, there was also a German importer of these Guillermo Rico cigars in Berlin, who significantly expanded the range, allowing the previously mixed series to be clearly separated and properly listed. Since the end of 2025, the Guillermo cigars have been taken on by the importer Don Stefano, giving them much broader distribution in the German market.
