With the Stauffenberg Cigars, founder and entrepreneur Maik Neubauer presents a premium line that combines tradition, craftsmanship, and historical responsibility. The series is aimed at aficionados who not only want to enjoy excellent hand-rolled cigars but also value origin, history, and character. According to Neubauer, he reached an agreement with the Stauffenberg family—descendants of the resistance fighter Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg from World War II—that allows him to use the family name for this purpose. Graf Stauffenberg was summarily executed along with his fellow conspirators immediately after the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, and remains a symbol of resistance against the dictatorial regime of the Third Reich to this day.

Stauffenberg Cigars: A Premium Tribute to the Resistance

For Maik Neubauer, this was not just about choosing a resonant name—he explicitly wanted to create this project as a (modest) tribute to all resistance fighters of that time who risked their lives to bring an end to the terror of the Nazi regime. The first cigar from the series, Edition No. 1 Pyramid, was presented on April 24, 2025, in Berlin with an exclusive tour of the German Resistance Memorial Center, where the personal lives and fates of the resistance fighters are presented in a powerful and moving setting.

Limited One-Off Productions From Latin America: Hand-Rolled Cigars With Character

Maik relies on an international network of small, family-run manufacturers in Latin America to bring his individual projects to life. His approach is to produce a single batch of a special cigar using a carefully selected, outstanding tobacco blend that’s just sufficient for that limited run—then move on to seek out the next blend.
