Final 8 Premium
The Final 8 Premium cigar line is produced by Horacio Zigarren and manufactured in Nicaragua. The importer for Germany is Casagranda Zigarren GmbH, based in Stuttgart and run by Werner Casagranda. These cigars were originally created exclusively for a U.S. client who wanted a cigar with a gambling and casino theme in his portfolio. The term Final 8 refers to placing a roulette bet on everything that ends in the number 8. Accordingly, vitolas were chosen that all end with the digit 8. As always, the team at Horacio relies on their expert craftsmanship for the Final 8 Premium: each format is rolled “totalmente a mano,” and the wrapper leaves are carefully selected. The result is cigars that, despite their strength, exhibit remarkable balance. The combination of Nicaraguan Ligero and Seco creates an aromatic depth reminiscent of lines like Horacio Classic or Plasencia Reserva Original, though the Final 8 Premium comes across as a bit more rustic and powerful. That strength was also the deciding factor for Werner in bringing these cigars to the German market.
Three Characterful Vitolas for Seasoned Aficionados
The series currently includes three formats: Final 8 58, 68, and 78. The smallest format offers a concentrated smoking experience of about 45 minutes, while the larger variants—especially the 78—provide a long and intense enjoyment. Despite their size, all formats remain well-balanced with a clean draw. Various customer reviews in our Personal Humidors highlight the “even burn” and the “dense smoke with noticeable spice,” which unfolds pleasantly, especially in the middle of the smoke. The dark H-2000 wrapper from Ecuador encloses a binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua.
Flavor Profile and Aromatics
The Final 8 Premium opens cold with hints of earth and wood, accompanied by mildly sweet undertones. Upon lighting, a pronounced spiciness kicks in, joined by notes of pepper, roasted nuts, and cedarwood. As the smoke progresses, the flavor becomes rounder, with notes of cocoa, leather, and a subtle, dry sweetness. The interplay of aromas at times recalls lines like Flor de Selva Maduro Zigarren or Rocky Patel The Edge Nicaragua, but maintains a distinctly independent profile: bold, but never overwhelming. These cigars are definitely not aimed at beginners, but at aficionados who appreciate the authentic Nicaraguan style—rich, spicy, and with a long finish. Many customers describe the Final 8 Premium as an “honest cigar with no frills,” consistently strong without turning bitter.
Final 8 Premium – Bold Craftsmanship from Nicaragua
A Final 8 Premium reveals its full potential when paired with a strong coffee, dark chocolate, or aged rum. Those looking for a direct comparison will find similar profiles in Perdomo 20th Anniversary Zigarren or in the also very popular Oliva Serie V Zigarren, both known for their depth, spice, and excellent construction.
