Helvada Medio Filler
The Helvada brand goes back to Swiss tobacco merchant Daniel Schwiz, who is based in the canton of Aargau. To develop his cigars, he brought in support from Kurt Brandt, an experienced German master blender who worked for many years in Costa Rica and later in Nicaragua. Although the brand name evokes the Helvetii — an ancient people from what is now Switzerland — the cigars themselves are, of course, not produced there, but in Nicaragua. The result is a series that combines Swiss roots with Nicaraguan tobacco tradition. In Germany, they are distributed by importer Kleinlagel from Bruchsal and passed on to our retail partner Steffen Brinkmann in Schwerin, who then distributes them nationwide.
Origin and Concept Behind the Helvada Mediumfillers
The Helvada Mediumfiller cigars are aimed at aficionados looking for a straightforward everyday smoke. The compact formats allow for around 30 minutes to an hour of enjoyment and strike a balance between practical length and a clear Nicaraguan flavor profile. The filler and binder consist of Nicaraguan tobaccos, combined with a Sumatra wrapperthat gives the series a spicy yet approachable character. This Sumatra wrapper comes either as a light Claro or a dark Maduro. And the year 1973—who would have thought—is the birth year of the founder, Daniel Schwiz. These Mediumfillers were developed to suit everyday moments: quick breaks, walks with the dog, or those times when a classic longfiller cigar simply takes too long. Helvada here returns to the core idea of the brand — Nicaraguan craftsmanship with a Swiss background — without trying to replicate the complexity of larger formats. Instead, the focus is on offering a direct, authentic impression of Nicaraguan tobacco.
Formats and Character of the Mediumfillers
This series deliberately focuses on smaller formats that still deliver full-bodied flavor. From the very first draw, the Helvada Mediumfillers reveal a spicy-woody base, rounded off by the subtle sweetness of the Sumatra wrapper. Thanks to their short length, the flavors develop quickly and remain balanced throughout the entire smoke. Packaged in simple packs of 5 or 10, these Helvada cigars are ideal for travel or as a handy reserve in the humidor. For anyone looking for an honest, quick smoke, this is a solid everyday option.
