RoMa Craft CroMagnon (before: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro)

CroMagnon is the favorite cigar of Skip Martin, who, together with his business partner Michael Rosales, founded the company RoMa Craft Tobac in 2012. The name of the brand simply originated from the initials of their last names. Previously, Skip operated a retail business in Houston, Texas, after leaving his job in the corporate world. Today, the two produce cigars in their own factory called NicaSueno in Estelí, Nicaragua.

CroMagnon Cigars: Rustic and Unadulterated Flavors

The subtitle of the logo already sets the tone: rustic, primal, strong. As Skip explained to us at Intertabac 2015 in Dortmund, he wanted to offer a blend that provides an original and typical Nicaraguan character, aimed at seasoned and experienced aficionados. The name "CroMagnon" refers to a location in the Dordogne (France) where the first remains of these ancestors of modern humans were found. The original, rustic, and unadulterated taste of these CroMagnon cigars also inspired Skip in naming them.

Pennsylvania Broadleaf: Intense Flavor and Dark Color

For the wrapper, he chose a Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro grown in the USA. This means that the plants grow under intense sunlight and are then fermented for a particularly long time to develop their dark color and high aromaticity. A Cameroon was used for the binder, which encloses a filler made of purely Nicaraguan tobaccos. Connoisseurs of the series know that until the end of 2023, a Connecticut wrapper was used. However, regional supply difficulties led to the use of tobacco from nearby Pennsylvania. In the process, the blend was slightly adjusted to accommodate the new characteristics of the wrapper.

RoMa Craft Tobac: Founded by Skip Martin and Michael Rosales

The cigars from RoMa Craft are distributed by the importer August Schuster from Bünde. The contact was established when the junior manager Annemarie Schuster met the two founders during her stay in Nicaragua in 2015. While enjoying a cigar together, they discovered that they shared the same high standards of quality and the same vision regarding new cigars and flavor profiles. As the saying goes, travel broadens the mind!
