In 1866, in the northwest of Spain’s Asturias province, a boy named Alejandro Lopez was born. At the age of twenty, he left his homeland and crossed the North Atlantic to start a new life in Panama. In the Chiriquí region, he found work in tobacco cultivation. His curiosity and interest allowed him to immerse himself deeply into the craft over time.
By 1910, at the age of 44, Lopez relocated once more, this time to the Dominican Republic. In the 1920s, he established his first cigar factory near Santiago de los Caballeros. By his mid-50s, he had achieved his dream, running the factory until his passing at 82 years old in 1948. Today, cigars bearing his name continue to delight aficionados worldwide!

Currently, the brand offers three distinct cigar lines: the original Dominicana, the second line Nicaragua, and the relatively new Dominicana Maduro. This latest addition combines a Dominican filler and binder with a Mexican Maduro wrapper.
The classic Dominicana series mirrors the Maduro line internally, featuring Dominican filler and binder. However, instead of a Maduro wrapper, it is adorned with a light Connecticut Shade wrapper from the USA, delivering a creamy and velvety smoking experience.
