Dalay Cigars – A Saarlander With Humor
Behind the label stands our dear fellow retailer Salih Dalay from beautiful Saarbrücken. He often has a keen sense for bringing interesting products to Germany, and his private labels are equally convincing. We always enjoy exchanging ideas with like-minded people, appreciate our colleague’s unconventional approach, and are happy to feature his offerings in our shop.
Dominican Republic
The Dalay Dominican Republic Light are mild yet intriguing smokes with pleasant spice notes, making them an excellent choice for beginners. A real eye-catcher is the unique Super Gordo format – the “Super Thick” is a true heavyweight among cigars, boasting a ring gauge of 2.78 cm.
What works in the light also works in the dark – that could be the motto. The Dalay Dom. Rep. Dark is primarily offered in box-pressed format and delights with notes of chocolate and spices.
Honduras
Following the same concept – light and dark – Dalay also offers the Honduras Light. These are characterized by Corojo, a powerful seed variety typical of the region. The Honduras Dark is milder than one might expect from a Maduro and presents itself with sweet, chocolatey notes.
Dalay Cigars: No Reference to Thomas Mann
The series Affentanz by Dalay has nothing to do with the novel of the same name. Even though Thomas Mann would probably enjoy our colleague’s epic promotional videos, the name actually comes from Tabacalera Zauberberg – not nestled in the Swiss Alps, but based in the Dominican Republic. As for the charming name **Affezibbel**, we are still trying to uncover its meaning. After all, our company has an educational mission!
Art and Enjoyment
The perfect combination of art and enjoyment: The Dalay Artisan Series features individually designed boxes by painter Giomny Alonzo, who also hails from the cigar capital of Santiago de los Caballeros.
Originally, a batch of 200 was planned, but 170 of them were destroyed due to a water damage incident. We are unsure whether to mourn the cigars or the artwork more. Either way, scarce goods are known to be the most valuable. And who knows what kind of collector's value these rare boxes might have one day...
A Perfect Match: Dalay Rum
Dalay also offers a suitable rum for pairing: The Dalay Affentanz – our colleague truly has a thing for monkeys – is a fine spirit that would certainly be enjoyed not only by the smoking gorilla on its label.
