Debonaire Cigars: A Seasoned Veteran at Its Core
Behind the label stand Daniel Sinclair and Philip S. Zanghi III. The latter is anything but a newcomer to the business—he was already working with Rocky Patel before Rocky became a star in the cigar world. Yes, that was quite some time ago. Together, Philip and Rocky founded the Indian Tabac Cigar Company, but Philip eventually turned his back on the industry.

But that was only temporary. With Debonaire, he made his comeback in the early 2010s. Thanks to the esteemed house of Schuster, we have been able to enjoy these fine cigars in this part of the world since 2018.
A Not-So-Straightforward Flavor Profile
When it comes to taste, things get a bit tricky. Aficionados often describe Debonaire cigars as having umami notes. The term “umami” has become quite the buzzword, though its exact meaning remains somewhat elusive. It is frequently described as savory, but that leaves room for interpretation—anything from turkey breast to Limburger cheese.
From Mild to Bold: The Flavor Spectrum of Debonaire Cigars
The first series, Debonaire H, features a pleasantly hay-like, woody character with roasted notes, while remaining medium-bodied. A bit stronger is the Maduro, which adds a hint of Maduro sweetness to the savory flavor profile. As for the Daybreak, its name says it all: a light smoke for the morning. The first cigar of the day shouldn’t be too strong—after all, we don’t drink port wine with our cereal.
Indian Motorcycle Cigars: Debonaire’s Tribute to American Motorcycles
Additionally, there are two cigar lines under the Indian Motorcycle name, which follow in the tradition of the Indian Tabac Cigar Company.

Debonaire’s more affordable cigars have a slightly less intense filler, yet the Maduros still carry their full sweetness. A much milder alternative is the Connecticut Shade. By the way, “Indian” here is not meant as a geographical reference or an origin label. Rather, it is a tribute to America’s first motorcycle manufacturer.
