Diesel – Cigars

Diesel Cigars: Crafted by True Experts

The brand Diesel, as you might guess, has nothing to do with diesel engines or jeans. Diesel is a private label of Cigars International, which belongs to General Cigar. General Cigar, in turn, operates under the umbrella of the Scandinavian Tobacco Group. The Diesel cigars are manufactured by A. J. Fernandez in Nicaragua. That’s quite a few names and somewhat complex ownership structures, but none of that affects the quality of these fine cigars. Every player involved is an absolute expert in the industry.

Collaboration Between Diesel and A. J. Fernandez

Those familiar with A. J. know that the Cuban expatriate does not produce mild cigars in his Nicaraguan factory. On the contrary—A. J. is renowned for his full-bodied and bold cigars. This is evident not only in his own cigar lines but also in the numerous cigars he produces on behalf of others. Besides Diesel, his factory also produces Man o’War, Sons of Anarchy, and Ave Maria.

Aged in Sherry Barrels: Diesel Cask Aged Cigars

Diesel cigars are perhaps not the best choice for breakfast. However, those who appreciate rich and full-flavored cigars will certainly enjoy these exceptional blends. The premium tobaccos used come primarily from Nicaragua, complemented by select leaves from other regions.

The Unlimited Origin series, easily recognizable by its red band near the foot, boasts very intense flavors. This is due not only to the rich filler tobaccos but also to the Ligero wrapper from Ecuador. The Barrel Aged line is unique, as both the filler and wrapper have been aged for several years in former bourbon barrels. A similar process is used for the Diesel Cask Aged cigars, where the binder leaves are finished in retired sherry casks.

A true rarity is the Crucible series: Only 3,000 boxes were produced, with just 250 making their way to the German market. If that’s not an invitation for aficionados, what is?
