Umnum offers a wide range of flavors, including wood, earth, creamy, leathery, and chocolaty notes. The brand is aimed at budget-conscious cigar lovers who do not want to compromise on quality. Noteworthy is the Umnum Nicaragua Canonazo, which impresses with its harmonious aroma profile and elegant format with a length of 13.3 centimeters and a diameter of 21 millimeters.
The Company Behind It: Gesinta International Tobacco Company
The Gesinta International Tobacco Company was founded in 1997 by Ramon Zapata and has established itself as Spain's largest independent cigar importer. The company, based in Valencia, also offers the brand Condega. Gesinta is known for high-quality cigars at affordable prices and, after a successful start in the Spanish market, has continued its triumph across Europe. Ramon Zapata, the founder, was formerly a partner at Compañia Hondureña de Tabacos in Danli and has significantly shaped brands like Tabacalera Zapata, Kuuts, and Miro.
Umnum Nicaragua: The Classic
The Umnum Nicaragua series has been impressing with its quality and taste for years. The wrapper is a Sungrown from Nicaragua, while the binder consists of Indonesian tobacco. The filler is composed of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos from the Jalapa and Esteli regions. The cigars are characterized by an earthy-leathery base, complemented by notes of coffee and nuts. A total of five formats of the Umnum Nicaragua are in production, all known for their excellent price-performance ratio.
Umnum Honduras: A Stronger Alternative
The Umnum Honduras cigars offer stronger alternatives to the Nicaragua blends and are an insider tip among aficionados. The wrapper comes from Honduras, the binder is Mexican, and the filler is a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos from the Jalapa and Esteli regions. These cigars are somewhat stronger and nuttier, with a sweet note due to the Mexican binder. Initially, only two formats were imported to Germany: the thicker Champion and the “regular” Robusto. Like all Umnum cigars, the Honduras blends are also longfillers.
