Aureum Special Editions

In this series, we have brought together all Aureum cigars that do not belong to the Connecticut, San Andrés or Sun Grown series. These include special vitolas and limited editions that showcase the brand's versatility. These cigars from Costa Rica are made in the mountainous region of Puriscal in this Central American country south of Nicaragua, where traditional craftsmanship meets carefully selected tobaccos. Whether rare filler tobaccos, unusual blends or exclusive small-batch releases, every cigar from Aureum tells its own story and is aimed at aficionados who value provenance, character and individuality. The German premiere took place in Kiel on July 23, 2026.

What Do Aureum Cigars Stand for?

Aureum is, first of all, the adjective derived from the word Aurum, which is Latin for gold. Aureum therefore means “gilded” or “golden”. The idea apparently came about during another trip to South America by our fellow cigar retailer Sebastian Gollas, while visiting the Gold Museum in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. There, he encountered the traditions of Colombia's Kogi people and historic trade routes – Aureum thus combines the symbolism of gold with an appreciation for high-quality tobacco. The brand's guiding principle, or in modern marketing terms its “claim”, “When tobacco becomes gold”, represents a mindful approach to enjoyment in which provenance, craftsmanship and history are just as important as the blend itself. Production in Costa Rica provides the foundation for well-balanced cigars, while selected special editions featuring tobaccos from Pennsylvania, Peru or Brazil add intriguing facets to the range.

Special Aureum Cigars for Explorers

The Aureum Medio Tiempo Perla combines the compact Perla vitola with rare Medio Tiempo tobacco, making it an excellent choice for shorter smoking sessions. The Aureum Lancero was originally developed for a cigar retailer in Bamberg, and its slender shape showcases the subtle qualities of the H2000 wrapper particularly well. With the Aureum Pennsylvania Toro Extra, the brand reveals its experimental side: tobaccos from Pennsylvania, Estelí and Peru come together in a distinctive blend that particularly appeals to aficionados keen to discover unusual combinations. As the tobaccos used are only available in limited quantities, this special edition is one of the more exclusive members of the Aureum family. Naturally, I had to light one up straight away to see what fine cigar our esteemed colleague had managed to get his hands on!
