Aureum San Andrés

The Aureum San Andrés series combines the cultural concept behind Aureum Cigars with a bolder interpretation of high-quality premium cigars. Its defining feature is the dark San Andrés wrapper from Mexico, which gives the blends greater spice, depth, and expression. The filler is complemented by rare Double Ligero tobacco from Central America, lending the cigars a distinctive strength. This makes the series particularly appealing to experienced aficionados who appreciate expressive cigars from Costa Rica with a character all their own. The brand's limited special editions are produced in small batches and stand for mindful enjoyment and meticulous craftsmanship. The idea came to our fellow cigar retailer Sebastian Gollas from Berlin during a trip to South America, which included a visit to the Gold Museum in the Colombian capital Bogotá. When he visited us here in Düsseldorf shortly before that trip, he enthusiastically told me how much he was looking forward to once again traveling through the countries of South America like a “truffle pig”, sniffing out new cigars for his successful cigar distribution business in Germany.

Aureum San Andrés – Powerful Premium Cigars from Costa Rica

Behind Aureum is the StarkeZigarren brand, whose guiding principle, “When tobacco becomes gold”, places tobacco as a valuable natural product at the heart of its philosophy. Inspired by the history of gold and the cultural significance of tobacco, the brand brings together origin, craftsmanship, and symbolism. The cigars are produced in the traditional tobacco-growing region of Puriscal in Costa Rica, where experienced torcedores craft high-quality blends. The San Andrés Series presented here expands the range with stronger blends without losing sight of the brand's balanced style. Personally, I'm not a fan of San Andrés wrappers, but that doesn't mean much! If we only stocked cigars that I like, our shelves would be considerably emptier and therefore a lot less “exciting”! As the saying goes, there's no arguing about taste; even within our team, we very often have significant differences in how we rate cigars, and that's a good thing.
