Partageno Panatela & Corona

These very well-known cigars from the August Schuster manufactory are one of the two main brands in the Bündner company’s cigarillo segment. In contrast to the Lepanto cigars, the formats of the Partageno cigars are composed to be somewhat milder. In the same format, the Partageno tastes milder and smoother. Our recommendation is always to choose the Brazil variant, but of course that remains a personal decision!

Partageno Cigars: Mild Elegance From the Traditional Workshop August Schuster

I simply prefer the juiciness and depth of flavor of the easy-drinking Brazil. Many smokers are visually “afraid” of the darker Brazil, but unjustly so: dare to try it! In this category, the recommendation is the traditional 430, naturally also in Brazil. With a length of 17 centimeters and a diameter of 1.25 centimeters, it demonstrates just how intense in flavor these tobaccos can be.

History of the August Schuster Cigar Factory in Bünde

In 1909, August Schuster became self-employed with a cigar production facility in what was then Germany’s cigar capital, the Westphalian town of Bünde. His son Hans Schuster took over the manufactory in 1953 and ran the company until 1983.

For many years, the two brothers Manfred and Philipp Schuster guided the fortunes of the company, until the next generation—Martin, Oliver, and Annemarie Schuster—took the helm on January 1, 2024. They are committed to the tradition of their forebears and rely exclusively on top-quality materials, both for their own products and for imported longfillers (hand-rolled cigars made from whole leaves). Only products made from 100% tobacco leave the manufactory in Bünde.

As a small curiosity, the public telephone directory lists no factory entry, only the name “August Schuster” along with a mere four-digit number. This must date back to the time when telephone connections were still manually switched! The brands produced by the August Schuster manufactory—such as Cardenal Mendoza, Lepanto, Brazil Trüllerie, and above all Partageno—hold a firm place on the shelves of German cigar shops. The same applies to imported yet proprietary brands such as Casa de Torres, Maria Mancini, and Rodrigo de Jerez. These are fairly priced, high-quality premium cigars of Caribbean origin.

With Oliver, Martin, and Annemarie at the helm, this traditional manufactory from Bünde continues to stand for exceptional enjoyment and consistently high quality. Added to this is the strong industry-wide commitment of Philipp Schuster. He deserves great respect for his tireless fight against political restrictions and regulations targeting the enjoyment of cigars.

In the past, many affluent manufacturing families lived in Bünde. It was once the center of cigar production in Germany, and excellent money could be made here. Although Bünde is still known as a cigar town, production today actually takes place in only one manufactory: August Schuster.

The only other remaining manufacturer, Arnold Andre, no longer produces here and has retained only an administrative office on site. Since its founding, the company has survived difficult times and a far-reaching structural transformation. A large share of private-label brands sold in renowned German tobacco shops is produced here in Bünde by Schuster. Although in-house production is largely mechanized, these products still contain a surprisingly high proportion of manual craftsmanship.
