Casa de Torres – A Cigar Brand by Schuster
The cigars from Casa de Torres represent the first and still most successful private label of the August Schuster family. Behind this name lies over 100 years of family tradition, a significant chapter of German tobacco history.
Roots in Bünde
It all started with Hermann Schuster, a trained baker, who founded a cigar factory in Bünde in 1897. His sons Richard and Georg joined the business. After their passing, Hermann's grandson, Dr. Arnold Schuster, continued the family legacy. The Schuster daughters also contributed to the business. The foundation of today's company was laid by Dr. August Schuster, who brought his experience to his own cigar manufacturing business in 1909. This significantly shaped Bünde as Germany's cigar town. After August, his son Dr. Hans Schuster took over in 1953, leading the company for 30 years. In 1983, his sons Manfred and Philipp Schuster continued the family tradition, ensuring the business thrived.
Premium Cigars from Nicaragua: Casa de Torres
The Schuster family’s solid tradition has been carried through generations. Exceptional quality remains their highest priority. Today, their brands are staples in cigar shops, with iconic names like Partageno, Lepanto, C. Mendoza, Casa de Torres, Brazil Trüllerie, and the beloved Maria Mancini.

To reduce dependence on producers and brand owners, the Schuster family decided in the 1990s to produce a handmade longfiller cigar under their own label, partnering with renowned producers in Nicaragua.
Casa de Torres Cigars: Classic, Edition Especial, Maduro Selection
One of the best-selling cigars from Nicaragua is undoubtedly Casa de Torres. Developed in 1998 in close collaboration with a Nicaraguan manufacturer, these cigars are produced exclusively for the Schuster family in a small factory in Nicaragua. Today, the Casa de Torres brand features three distinct lines:
- Casa de Torres Classic: Launched in 1998, this line remains a favorite. Made with tobaccos from the finest harvest years, the series includes classic formats such as Panatela, Toro, and Perfecto.
- Casa de Torres Edition Especial: Introduced in 2007, this line stands out for its unique flavor profile. These hand-rolled longfillers offer a highly aromatic taste and a creamy smoke.
- Casa de Torres Maduro Selection: Released in 2009 for Schuster’s 100th anniversary, this Maduro variant offers a mild and slightly sweet smoking experience, perfect for those who prefer a softer flavor.
