Arturo Fuente Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway lent his name to a very special "masterpiece" from the house of Arturo Fuente. After facing some legal issues, the importer Kohlhase & Kopp has finally succeeded in importing these cigars of the Arturo Fuente Hemingway line back to Germany. As always, only truly perfectly rolled cigars leave this cigar factory; this time, they come in exceptionally challenging "Perfecto formats" (irregular pointed shapes). These specialties were very popular in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s but nearly extinct. In 1980, when the family came to the Dominican Republic, Carlos Fuente Jr. revived these vitolas (formats). His aim was to revive the style of the old times and preserve the art, tradition, and craftsmanship.

A highly aromatic blend of Dominican tobaccos for the filler and binder is wrapped in an African Cameroon wrapper. Flavor-wise, they are medium-strength cigars with light coffee and chocolate notes, consistently delivering a very good and smooth draw.

For all Fuente cigars (except the "Chateau" series), Carlos Fuente Jr. (Carlito) personally made the decision in the 1990s to use the spicier, fuller Central African wrapper. According to his opinion, it harmonizes much better with the blend of filler tobaccos. All Fuentes are relatively robust and characterful cigars for Dominican standards, partly due to using at least four different types of tobacco in the filler blend.

In this regard, the Fuentes benefited from their close personal connections with the Meerapfel family, the main provider of this specific wrapper worldwide. These leaves are rare because the political conditions in the best cultivation region, the Central African Republic, are unstable, making long-term planning and orderly tobacco cultivation almost impossible.

Since 1912, the family, led by Carlos Fuente (hence the "Don Carlos" small and fat cigar), has been making cigars. The Fuentes are globally renowned for their outstanding quality and pioneering spirit in tobacco cultivation and processing. Arturo Fuente cigars are the most popular brand in the American market. The Hemingway series, especially the Opus X, which is rarely available in Germany, has brought this brand a legendary reputation.
