Carlos André Cast Off (Cigars)

These cigars were blended at the personal request of Axel-Georg André, owner of the cigar producer and distributor Arnold André from Bünde. Initially, they were produced exclusively as a rare luxury for the friends and guests of the house. The very personal naming (Carlos is the name of his son, the 8th generation of the family!) underscores this heartfelt project. The filler of the Carlos André Cast Off (formerly Family Reserve) consists of four harmoniously balanced components of selected tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Mexico, and Ecuador.

Carlos André Cast Off: A Personal Passion Project of the André Family

The wrapper is a hand-selected, light yellow to light brown Connecticut Seed Desflorado leaf. Desflorado means that the flowers of the tobacco plants are removed earlier than usual, allowing more strength to concentrate in the leaves. As a result, they absorb more nutrients and develop a more intense aroma. For this purpose, the Cigar Master at Arnold André Dominicana allows the tobacco to mature for a full five years. In terms of flavor, these premium cigars offer creamy notes of cappuccino as well as subtly bitter nuances of fresh almonds. These are complemented by fruity and earthy tones. Thanks to the numerous vitolas, including classic formats such as Corona Larga, Petit Corona, Robusto, and Toro, there is a suitable cigar for every occasion.

The Carlos André brand thus combines over 200 years of tobacco tradition with the present day. The Cast Off (which in English roughly means “cast off” or “set sail”) presents itself as a delicately balanced cigar that develops a multi-layered interplay of nuanced aromas. This exceptionally successful tobacco composition offers not only a very special smoking experience. The Carlos André also burns with above-average consistency: the smoking experience remains perfectly balanced throughout the entire length of the cigar.

Over 200 Years of Tradition in Every Carlos André Cigar

The long history of the cigar in Germany is closely linked to the André family and the town of Bünde. In 1817, Johann Friedrich Christian André, a tobacco specialist from Hannover-Hainholz, became self-employed in Osnabrück producing smoking tobacco. In 1851, a factory branch was established in Bünde. In the mid-19th century, Arnold André, a grandson of the company founder, took over management of the family business. The registration of the company Arnold André in the commercial register on May 17, 1867, marks the birth of the company in its form as it still exists today.

Axel-Georg André assumed the chairmanship of the supervisory board in June 2004, thus leading the family business in its seventh generation. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company developed into the market leader in Germany. The brand Handelsgold accompanied the young republic through the years of the economic miracle and remains one of the most popular cigar brands to this day. Through cooperation with the globally operating group Swedish Match, the successful distribution of long fillers from the Dominican Republic developed in the 1990s. In 2017, the company owner repurchased the shares from Swedish Match.
