Crowned Heads Luminosa
This is the first lighter line from Crowned Heads Cigars, the boutique cigar manufacturer from Nashville, Tennessee. As with most of their previous series, the Luminosa cigars are produced by EPC (Ernesto Perez-Carrillo) at his Tabacalera La Alianza. The name translates to “bright,” which fits the light color of the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. The binder and filler, however, are not officially disclosed. As mentioned elsewhere, it would be interesting to know whether this is yet another cigar made in the Dominican Republic without containing a single Dominican leaf!
Luminosa by Crowned Heads: Mild Elegance and Complexity
These are the mildest cigars from the brand—though no less complex. Co-founder and CEO Jon Huber described them as a “morning cigar” to enjoy with coffee. That said, they are not quite that mild! Expect sweet, slightly grassy-hay-like notes that create an approachable and easy-going smoking experience. No, this is not hot air—you would hardly expect anything less from Ernesto!
The Subtle Refinement of Crowned Heads Luminosa Cigars
For the German market launch, importer Dalay Zigarren from Saarbrücken brought all four available formats across the Atlantic. The design of the logo and cigar bands subtly evokes indigenous American art from North or South America. In early 2019, a small batch of the Gigantes Limitada 2018 was added—like everything from Dalay, this limited release was bound to perform well. All in all, these are arguably the most “typical” Dominican cigars from the house of Crowned Heads.
