Crowned Heads Cigars: Craftsmanship with a Musical Legacy
In hindsight, quitting their jobs was a smart decision. It gave rise to Crowned Heads, a small but incredibly trendy boutique brand that has gained significant attention among aficionados. They have also maintained a business connection with their former employer. The fact that their cigars are now available in Germany is thanks to our fellow retailer, Salih Dalay from Saarbrücken. He was the first to recognize the potential of these incredibly appealing cigars and brought them across the Atlantic.
From Former CAO Employees
When the CAO brand was acquired by Scandinavian Tobacco Group in 2007 and its headquarters were relocated from Nashville to Richmond shortly after, four employees quit their jobs and started their own business. Whether it was their love for country music that kept them tied to their hometown—America’s Music City—or another reason they refused to trade Tennessee for Virginia, the four stayed put and crowned themselves as their own bosses.
Crowned Heads and Ernesto Perez Carrillo
Did their first series get the name Four Kicks because there were four of them behind the brand? It seems likely, but we can’t be sure. What is certain, however, is that these cigars come from the Dominican Tabacalera La Alianza, run by Ernesto Perez Carrillo, the mastermind behind EPC. Known as the “Godfather of Boutique Cigars,” Ernie is a true expert in his field and guarantees top-notch quality, which is evident once again in these medium-bodied vitolas with distinct wood and leather notes.
Milder yet no less complex, the Luminosa features a light Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador. A slightly stronger smoke awaits aficionados with the Court Reserve XVIII, which gets its name from its 2018 release.
From the Dominican Republic to Nicaragua
Unlike the Dominican Republic, the Juarez series hails from Estelí, Nicaragua. It is rolled in the Tabacalera Pichardo, which some may recognize from ACE Prime Cigars. Just like this very harmonious and naturally sweet series, the Mil Dias is also produced there. Its name refers to the thousand days dedicated to its development. And that patience pays off—we are absolutely thrilled with this finely crafted cigar featuring an elegantly oily wrapper.
Crowned Heads: Craftsmanship, Enjoyment, and Style
Crowned Heads makes a direct reference to refined taste with its Le Carème line. Marie-Antoine Carême was a renowned chef who significantly influenced **French cuisine** in the early 19th century. The blend of these cigars is said to resemble a chocolate soufflé.
