Eladio Diaz La Diana – A Tribute to the Beginning

The name La Diana harks back to the small cigar factory where Eladio Diaz took his first steps into the world of tobacco. At just seven years old, he began working there under the guidance of Francisco “Panchito” Biloria Vencosme. Inspired by a song by Ecuadorian singer Julio Jaramillo – “De cigarro en cigarro” – young Eladio promised his mother: “That’s how I’ll live my life, from cigar to cigar.” This early fascination shaped his entire path and ultimately led him to found the Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera in the Dominican Republic, where his masterpieces are crafted to this day.

Eladio Díaz spent more than three decades working for Davidoff. As a Master Blender and Head of Quality Control, he was responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of all cigar lines produced at Henke Kelner’s Tabacalera. He not only blended numerous series, but also developed the sensory and training program at Davidoff. While Kelner was considered the face and strategist behind Davidoff, Eladio Díaz was the man “at the tobacco,” turning leaves into flavor experiences. This partnership gave rise to a number of iconic lines – including the following successful series:

His signature style – aromatic depth, creamy balance, and a progressively bolder profile – redefined Davidoff’s mild image throughout the 2010s. Eladio Díaz is often seen as the “invisible architect” behind modern Davidoff flavor – a man who stood behind the scenes for decades yet shaped the brand’s DNA in a decisive way. The high-end luxury cigar Oro Blanco remains the pinnacle of his time at Davidoff – and his later private labels continue this philosophy.

The Blending Secret of La Diana Cigars

For the Eladio Diaz La Diana cigars, the maestro uses a select Ecuador H-2000 wrapper, paired with a Mexican San Andrés binder and a filler blend of Dominican Corojo, Criollo 98, Negrito, and Peruvian Pelo de Oro. This extraordinary combination initially reveals a creamy-sweet and spicy profile, evolving into a bold, complex finish – in his own words, the “strongest and most layered composition” he has ever created. Naturally, the series is produced at his own Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera, known for exceptional craftsmanship and authentic Dominican character. A blend for connoisseurs in search of something special – and for those who know that true passion can be felt in every cigar.
