Freud Alteriego
Freud Alterego Cigars have been available in the U.S. since 2022 and represent the first regular line from this cigar brand to originate from the Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera. This factory was co-founded by Eladio Diaz, who had long operated more behind the scenes at Davidoff, but was instrumental in creating some of its most prestigious blends, such as the Davidoff Oro Blanco Cigars. Since 2021, he has been working independently with his family and has since released outstanding Eladio Diaz Cigars, while also blending and producing exciting cigars for a few select third-party brands. For the Freud Alterego, he used a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Indonesian Sumatra binder, with Dominican filler tobaccos including Corojo, H-92, Pelo de Oro, and Piloto underneath. The “signature tobacco” here is Pelo de Oro, literally “golden hair” or “angel hair” in English, which brings extra complexity and strength to the blend—setting it apart from the otherwise milder Freud Cigars.
Freud Alterego Cigars: Complex Blends from Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera
In addition to the Superego Cigars, there are several other limited editions, the first of which was marketed under the name Agape. This cigar was developed by Luis Torres, co-founder of Freud Cigar Co., together with Eladio Diaz. It was a Puro Dominicano, meaning a cigar made entirely from Dominican tobaccos. Unfortunately, this cigar never reached the German market—our “first” Limitada was the Freud Limited Edition 2023 Sigmund Collaboration The Disruptor, which arrived in Germany with the brand’s market launch in summer 2025, also blended by Diaz in collaboration with Torres.
Carlos & Maria Cigars: Creative Tobacco Concepts from Agape Lifestyle Inc.
Alongside the cigars that bear the name Freud, there are also the Cigars from Carlos & Maria, born from the same creative collective. These cigars are another project of Agape Lifestyle Inc. from the U.S., founded by investor David Stadnyk and Luis Torres. Luis previously served as CEO of the retail and lounge chain Casa de Montecristo, and before that also worked for Davidoff—which explains his strong connection to Eladio Diaz.
