Patoro Brasil

The cigar brand Patoro has a very interesting development and origin to show. Originally founded in 2001 by Swiss ex-Davidoff employee Patrick J. Martin, since 2015, two individuals associated with the Oettinger company have also been on board.
On one hand, this is Dr. Pablo Richard Schneider, the grandson of the unfortunately already deceased, longtime Davidoff CEO Dr. Ernst Schneider, who has been part of the team since 2014 and is crucial to driving the expansion forward. Senor Pablo is a doctor by profession; his mother is part of the family that was generously compensated by the Davidoff-Oettinger conglomerate. We had him visit us in the lounge in the spring of 2015; he shared a lot about his new responsibilities at Patoro. He was truly very personable and, "despite" his famous grandfather, showed no signs of arrogance. On the other hand, there was Carlos Andres, who was responsible for events and training at Davidoff in Europe until 2014; he was officially the new CEO of the brand. In 2017, Carlos left the company to join the importer Arnold André - yes, we're keeping track...! ;-)
These two gentlemen are now the management team of Patoro and are intended to take the brand where founder and owner Patrick J. Martin has wanted it for quite some time: at the forefront of the luxury cigar segment. Among other things, they personally visited their distributor's booth, CLE Cigars by Christian Eiroa, during the IPCPR in New Orleans in the summer of 2015. This stuck in our memory particularly because we got through passport and customs controls at the airport significantly faster than they did, as they were delayed "a bit" due to the quantities of Swiss chocolate for the trade fair...
The Patoro Brasil cigars are blended with a wrapper made from a type of Cubra tobacco. This variety is a crossbreed grown in Brazil from Sun Grown and Brazilian tobaccos. These Dominican cigars, despite being manufactured there, start with a light floral note and some citrus aromas. As the smoke progresses, a touch of sweetness is added. Very harmonious; strong, but not overwhelming.
