Romeo y Julieta Añejado

In January 2015, this absolute novelty from Cuba was introduced worldwide: Habanos Añejados. These cigars have been aged for at least five years in perfect condition on Cuba after rolling. This additional aging process on-site allows the cigars to mature in a perfect environment, intensifying their complexity and harmony while preserving their original organoleptic properties. Due to the aging process in direct contact with cedar wood, the Habanos have become smoother and softer on the palate.

The Habanos Añejados are delivered in original boxes that have remained unmarked throughout the aging process and are only labeled with the corresponding markings on each brand shortly before shipping. In addition to the additional cigar band with the inscription "Anejado" (which means "aged" in Spanish), each box is equipped with an insert sheet explaining the concept once again. Unlike the Reservas and Gran Reservas, these cigars are rolled from "normal" tobaccos and aged AFTER rolling, while the former are made from particularly long-aged tobaccos. The production date and additional control date are printed on the bottom of the boxes, as all cigars have been individually checked again before being delivered to national distributors. In Spanish, the word "Revisado" is used for this purpose. This was already quite common, for example, in the early 2000s when the production had to be frequently checked due to issues.

As the first edition, two vitolas were selected or released, which had not been available in these two brands' standard lineup before: Romeo y Julieta Pirámides Añejados and Montecristo Churchills Añejados.
