Black Label Trading Company Eletto

The Eletto cigars from Black Label Trading Company are a tribute to the ten-year history of the Fabrica Oveja Negra factory, founded in 2015 in Estelí, Nicaragua. The series—whose name means “chosen one” in Italian—brings together a carefully composed blend of Nicaraguan filler, an Ecuadorian H. binder, and a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. At first glance, that sounds rather “intimidating” and “bold,” especially if you're familiar with some of the blends by James and Angela Brown of Black Label Trading Company cigars. Anyway, I treated myself to a Toro while writing this text. The design is cohesive and certainly recognizable: martial skulls and a black-white-silver color scheme instantly reveal the cigars’ origins.

Background on Black Label Trading Company

In recent years, Black Label Trading Company has established itself as an innovative brand in the premium segment, focusing on exceptional tobacco blends and bold character cigars. In addition to Black Label Trading Co. cigars, the Fabrica Oveja Negra (which translates to “black sheep” in English) also produces Black Works Studio cigars and other renowned labels. The factory in Estelí is known for processing strong Nicaraguan tobaccos and for the craftsmanship of its master blender, James Brown. No, not the singer—but an American who has been living and working in Central America for the past ten years with his wife and their son. The two first came to Nicaragua during a world trip—and ended up falling in love with the country.

Overview of the Eletto Series

My Toro is now burning nicely. It delivers pleasantly “rich” and powerful flavors in a very agreeable “package.” I actually expected more intensity. In the second third, I once again experience an almost creamy “smoothness,” which really suits my personal taste. In the final third, a bit more strength and pepper “kick in,” but without becoming overwhelming. Overall, the Eletto series is defined by its balanced flavor profile, combining notes of dark fruit and spices. The Eletto cigars are therefore an ideal choice for connoisseurs who appreciate powerful yet complex Nicaraguan cigars.
