HR Signature

The cigar brand HR bears the hallmark of Hirochi Robaina, grandson of the legendary Cuban tobacco farmer Alejandro Robaina. The family tradition from Cuba continues in a modern interpretation through the HR Cigars. Hirochi blends Cuban expertise with new influences from Nicaragua and Ecuador, creating a distinctive product line with an authentic character. His grandfather, unfortunately, passed away in 2010, aged over 90, yet still too soon from the perspective of the cigar industry, having built an excellent reputation among cigar enthusiasts with his wrapper-leaf plantation in Cuba's Pinar del Rio region. Ever since Cuban cigars started bearing his family name, the Vegas Robaina Cigars ("cigars from the Robaina plantation") and the tobacco farm of the same name have become attractions for countless tourists and aficionados. I myself have witnessed hordes of cigar fans being guided through his place, each allowed just enough time to snap a quick photo with him. He always appeared modest and approachable, yet it felt almost painful to see him used as a tourist attraction.

HR Signature Line Cigars: Rich Flavor with Tobacco from Ecuador and Nicaragua

Hirochi Robaina continues to run the renowned tobacco farm of his grandfather Alejandro in Pinar del Rio. He began forging his own path with Nicaraguan cigars in 2014 when he founded HR Cigars, initially encountering some setbacks. After a brief hiatus, a relaunch occurred in 2024 with support from Small Batch Brokers B.V. from the Netherlands, specifically targeting the European and Asian markets. Now, the brand is starting anew, impressing aficionados with its high quality and clear profile.

HR Signature Line: Bold Aromas and Exquisite Craftsmanship

The HR Cigars Signature Line stands out for its richly aromatic character and a darker, elegant Colorado wrapper from Ecuador. The binder and filler are sourced entirely from Nicaragua. This line is crafted at the Tabacalera La Corona Cigars S.A. under the expert supervision of Omar Gonzalez, known for his meticulous craftsmanship. Particularly popular is the Robusto, which combines aromatic spice with subtle flavor nuances, appealing to connoisseurs who prefer a rich and complex cigar. In direct comparison to the milder HR Cigars White Line, one notices a distinctly fuller profile. Having tested both lines one after another, the difference became particularly clear. The red-banded HR Signature Cigars are thus definitely not aimed at beginners.
