HR Blue
p>The Blue Series from HR Cigars occupies a deliberately chosen middle ground within the portfolio. It’s aimed at connoisseurs who seek structure and expression without venturing into extremes. The cigars in this line are characterized by controlled strength, clear aromatics, and a smooth, even draw. According to the manufacturer, the Blue Line described here is the strongest, alongside the Black HR Black Cigars. Following that is the somewhat milder Red HR Signature. Finally, the HR White Cigars represent the mildest and most approachable entry into the world of HR (Hirochi Robaina) Cigars. Although, truly mild these white cigars aren’t — for lovers of *really* mild cigars, we’d rather recommend our La Chaveta White Cigarsfrom Nicaragua!
HR Blue Line: Origin, Style, and Signature
So, enough general information; now let’s take a look at the HR Blue Cigars! This series was introduced in 2016 along with the White (also known as Claro) in the USA. Like all HR Cigars, the ones presented here are rolled by the exiled Cuban Omar González Aleman in Nicaraguan Estelí. For the wrapper, Hirochi Robaina chose an almost two‑year‑fermented H‑Maduro from Ecuador. Beneath it lies a Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend from the Nicaraguan regions of Estelí and Jalapa. Hirochi is the grandson of Cuban tobacco legend Alejandro Robaina, whose wrappers enjoyed cult status and were the origin of the Cuban Vegas Robaina Cigars. Hirochi learned the tobacco business and tobacco cultivation “from the ground up” with his grandfather and now distributes his Nicaraguan cigars worldwide. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
Aroma Profile and Enjoyment: What the Blue Series Tastes Like
The primary flavor character is defined by intense spice and earthiness. My test example was a 6×60 Gordo, which visually seemed a bit too large for my taste and, with its dark, oily sheen, commands respect. My tip: enjoy these cigars slowly — they deliver a lot of nicotine and spice, which deserve to be savored thoughtfully. On the palate, the HR Blue Line shows a precise, well‑structured profile. It starts with cedar, toasted nuts, and a fine, dry spiciness. In the second third, the profile turns deeper and rounder: cocoa, coffee, and a subtle hint of caramel appear without feeling cloyingly sweet. A controlled pepper note maintains tension, remaining integrated without becoming overly sharp. Towards the end, more earthiness and a slightly mineral dryness develop. The burn and draw are flawless. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
