La Chaveta Black
After launching our La Chaveta brand in September 2025, we are following up in September 2026 with the La Chaveta Black presented here. La Chaveta Black cigars are Nicaraguan puros for aficionados looking for a stronger and fuller-bodied alternative to the La Chaveta White. Only tobaccos from Nicaragua are used for the wrapper, binder and filler. Another distinctive feature of this cigar series is the pair of tobacco pigtails, carefully hand-twisted at both ends of every cigar. The Black thus combines the signature appearance of La Chaveta with a spicier and expressive tobacco blend.
La Chaveta Black: Spicy Criollo Wrapper from Nicaragua
The dark, rich H. Criollo wrapper from Nicaragua forms the basis of its intense character. The binder also comes from Nicaragua, while the filler combines tobaccos from the important growing regions of Estelí, Condega and Jalapa. With its dark, heavy soils, Estelí contributes strength and character. Tobaccos from the distinctive microclimate of Condega add a subtle sweetness, while Jalapa, with its sandy soils, provides diversity of flavor and elegance. At first, we had some reservations about working with no fewer than three powerful Ligeros, but the first samples proved us right and became significantly more interesting with additional aging.
Six Months of Fermentation and Additional Aging
One special feature of La Chaveta Black cigars is the elaborate processing of their filler tobaccos. They undergo six months of fermentation, allowing their different aromas to develop and blend harmoniously. After being rolled by the torcedores, the finished cigars are given another (!) six months of rest in the aging humidor before going on sale. Even after that, they have further development potential: when stored in a humidor at home, they can continue to gain complexity and balance as they mature.
La Chaveta Black Cigars: Minuto, Perla, Robusto and Toro
As is customary with La Chaveta, the Black is also available in various formats. The handy Minuto is 10.2 cm long and is available exclusively in a 20-count pouch for €3.30 per cigar. The pouch reliably preserves the aroma and is particularly convenient to handle. The Perla, also 10.2 cm long, is thicker and available in a box of 20 for €5.50 per cigar. Those who prefer a longer smoking time can opt for the Robusto, with an impressive ring gauge of 52, priced at €7.50 per cigar. The thickest and longest format is the Toro, priced at €8.90 per cigar. Perla, Robusto and Toro are each offered in lacquered wooden boxes of 20 cigars, on which we are pleased to offer you a 3% box discount.
